Lots of excitement went on in Westbay and surrounding area which made this a busy summer for the locals with the filming of the new ITV crime drama BROADCHURCH in westbay, Starring DAVID TENANT,ANDREW BUCHAN,OLIVIA COLEMAN,JODIE WHITTAKAR It centers around The murder of a young boy in a small coastal town brings a media frenzy, which threatens to tear the community apart, it is shown on Mondays at 9pm

I will not spoil it for you , if you miss any of the episodes you can catch up on the iTVplayer, lets hope it fairs better than Nick Berry’s Harbour Lights TV Series, The area can do with some more exposure.

It shows some great coastal shots and scenes of the Harbour side , most of the interior shots and high street shots where taken around the studios in Bristol area i am told

Well its been a long winter, i cannot wait to meet new friends and old, this year , we have been away this xmas and new year , the first time in 25 odd years , very strange feeling not to be near those close to us but it was good, not to have to cook and clean up all the mess, i hope all our friends have had a good time, lots of new things comming up , i will keep you posted on these , till the next time

Torchlight procession, music and fireworks Sunday August 19

This Sunday August 19th 5000 plus will leave Bucky Doo Square with torches lit for a fantastic spectacle and celebration.

There will be road closures in place West Street and South Street during the evening until about 9.30pm although the top of South Street will be closed for longer. Torches for the torchlight parade on Sunday will be on sale from 6.30pm outside the arts centre. The procession will then leave South Street for West Bay at 9pm where there will be a bonfire, music from Freak Circus and fireworks, weather permitting. The fireworks will be at 10.30pm, weather permitting. There is a shuttle bus home.

Bridport’s famous Torchlight Procession makes it’s way from Bucky Doo Square in the centre of town down to West Bay where the traditional fireworksd and bonfire take place. Torches may be purchased from 6.30pm and the Procession begins around 9pm.

Bridport Carnival

One of the best events of the year Happens this Saturday 18 August with the carnival, with Floats Marching Bands , Dancers, and Fun for all starts at 7PM ish , and is not to be missed lasts about two and a half hours , with entertainment to follow in Bucky Doo Square

West Bay Raft Race

After not watching the West Bay Raft Race for many years , which is held for the Benefit of the RNLI , I ventured down to West Bay with Sam to watch the race.

And what a spectacle it was with 18 entrance and thousand of people watching and getting wet , adding to the atmosphere , this is one event not to be missed , I did get a video and will try to upload it for you , just to give you an idea.

After the event many people stayed on to listen not the Music and have a few drinks on the green in the warm summer evening which just a few weeks earlier was flooded , this Race takes part every year in the last Thursday in the Month of August during NNLI Week yet another event in Dorset Not to be missed.

Bridport Hat Festival

Yes Bridport ‘s very successful Hat Festival is nearly upon us again , if you are coming to this part of Dorset during the 14th 15th 16th of September make sure you book your accommodation early as the Town is amassed with the Hat enthusiasts .

It surly is a sight to behold if you have never seen it before , now in its third year and growing with strength to strength attracting over 8000 visitors last year.

It is a celebratory weekend full of fun , and workshops etc and not only benefits the town but attracts visitors from far and wide

Definitely not to be missed if you are in the Dorset area

Watch House Café Westbay

After some time i ventured to the newly refurbished watch house cafe, with my eldestson, i have been hearing some pretty impressive stuff from him about there breakfast menu which is served until 11.am .

After some time of trying to be persuaded ,I ventured to the newly refurbished watch house cafe, with my eldest son, I have been hearing some pretty impressive stuff from him about their breakfast menu which is served until 11.am .

However I was there to try the fish dishes available at lunch time , and boy was I in for a treat, I tried the specials board ,SEAFOOD AND CHORIZO BROTH , very nice, in fact looking around all the dishes looked Scrumptious ,

Service was good, which I should have expected being the new owner already running the Hive cafe in Burton Brad stock,

This Saturday 1st June its champagne and oysters from 5 PM , so if in the area , see you there.go to the site to see full menu ,prices, and opening times

Short Break In Jersey

Seemed a good idea at the time we had a gap in the diary, so took no bookings, we have been promisng ourself some our time.

So off we went to Poole to the Condor Ferry for the 4 hour trip over stoping at Gernsey first , nice Hotel Oaklands Lodge, as good as anything arounf hte 4 star grade.

St Hellier was a nightmare to get around , with all the one way streets, we found some nice restaurants , although a bit pricey, Ad lib was a differant class and well recomeneded, as is Little Thia, i will have to finish this tomorrow as Guests arriving
